Enquiries and engagement

Visiting the site or sending an enquiry does not itself confirm an engagement or payment. There is no online ordering or payment function. Before editing begins, the proposal confirms the manuscript, language convention, word count, intervention level, deliverables, revision rounds, production time, total fee, applicable taxes and payment, change or cancellation arrangements.

The manuscript and authorial decisions

You supply an editable DOCX and the agreed brief, and confirm permission to share and edit the material. The word count includes headings, notes, captions and all other text submitted for editing. You retain the final decision on proposed revisions and are responsible for the accuracy of facts, quotations, sources, permissions and statements in the manuscript.

Levels of work

Final proofread checks spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency in a stable text. Focused manuscript edit and Book-length edit include a structure and flow review, line editing and copyediting. Structural recommendations are delivered in comments and the editorial letter; writing new chapters or carrying out substantial structural rewrites is outside these packages.

Every package includes tracked revisions and editorial comments in the editable DOCX. Final proofread adds a one-page consistency sheet. Focused manuscript edit adds a two-page editorial letter and one-page style sheet. Book-length edit adds a four-page editorial letter and two-page style sheet. These accompanying documents are additional to the manuscript word limit.

Revision rounds and delivery

One round is one consolidated response to editorial queries and in-scope comments, not a new edit of a substantially rewritten manuscript. A changed word count, new chapters or a different editorial purpose may require an updated quote and timetable, agreed before additional work.

Production begins after scope approval and receipt of the complete editable manuscript. Time awaiting your review is additional. The listed business days cover production; specific delivery dates are agreed in the quote. The editing packages do not include a separate final proofread after substantial author revisions.

Work outside the packages

Research, specialist fact-checking, reference verification, translation, ghostwriting, typesetting, print-layout proofreading and publishing are not included. Apparent factual or source issues may be queried, but editing is not independent verification. The service does not guarantee publication, acceptance by an agent or publisher, sales or an error-free final publication.

Files and handling

Agree the communication channel and handling arrangements before sharing a complete or confidential manuscript. Keep a copy of your original file. Information handling is described in Privacy; the optional browser preference is explained in Cookies & storage.

Sections marked “Illustrative example” demonstrate an editorial choice and its reasoning. The scope for your manuscript is based on your draft, audience and agreed brief.

Project agreements

The accepted proposal sets the arrangements for the specific engagement. This page does not replace those agreements or limit rights that apply to your situation.
